Southern Regional and Penn State alum Mike Gesicki had one of the stronger performances of all the tight ends at the NFL Combine and when performing in drills on Saturday.

He ran a 4.54 40-yard dash, tied with NC State's Jaylen Samuels for the top 40-yard dash time by a tight end on Saturday.

It’s quite an impressive time considering Gesicki measured in at 6-foot-5 and 247 pounds.

Gesicki had a 41.5-inch vertical leap and an amazing 129-inch broad jump, plus and three-cone drill time of 6.76 seconds.

"He was clearly one of the stars of the combine," said Draftcountdown.com President Scott Wright, who has Gesicki rated as his No. 2 tight end in this years draft, on the Sports Bash

Gesicki had a solid 2017 season, with 51 catches, 509 yards and nine touchdowns during his senior campaign.

The current projection for Gesicki’s draft placement is in second round round, but some believe he bumped that stock up on Saturday with his combine performance.

"His performance may have him moving from about the 50th pick to the 30th pick," Wright said. "He really solidified his position as one of the top tight ends in the draft."
