St. Augustine Prep Names Bill Belton as New Head Football Coach
In a major development on the South Jersey football scene, Bill Belton has been hired as the new football coach at St. Augustine Prep.
The school announced in a social media post on Wednesday.
Bill Belton’s Championship Pedigree at Winslow Township
Belton, 33, spent four seasons from 2022-2025 as the head coach at Winslow Township. His teams went 42-9 and captured back-to-back State Championships in 2024, and 2025. The Eagles were universally regarded as one of the top public school programs in South Jersey.
Belton replaces Pete Lancetta, who parted ways with the school on March 4 after nine seasons as St. Augustine's coach. Pete Lancetta's teams were 59-34 and dominated South Jersey competition in recent seasons. He also led the Hammoton football program for 26 seasons, going 215-64-2 before landing in Richland.

In a statement, St. Augustine athletic director Mike Rizzo said, “Coach Belton embodies the values of St. Augustine Prep,” St. Augustine athletic director Mike Rizzo said in a statement. “His understanding of the game, combined with his dedication to mentoring young men, makes him the right leader for our program moving forward."
Belton is a graduate of Winslow Township and played collegiately at Penn State.
