Samuel Ersson allowed a goal on the first shot he faced in his NHL career and was eventually pulled after allowing five goals. In relief, Carter Hart was back in goal, until he was forced to exit with an injury, sending Ersson back in during a whirlwind 6-5 loss for the Flyers to the Carolina Hurricanes on Friday night.
The Flyers finally got the result to go with the process. Kevin Hayes scored two goals and Carter Hart made 23 saves in helping the Flyers snap their losing streak at 10 games with a 3-1 win over the New York Islanders on Tuesday night at Wells Fargo Center.
One day prior to the four-year anniversary of Ron Hextall's firing as Flyers GM, chants of "Fire Fletcher" could be heard at Wells Fargo Center. Chuck Fletcher's time should be running out, but it's not the only change that needs to be made.
Cole Caufield scored with 1.9 seconds remaining in regulation, forcing overtime and eventually a shootout, where Nick Suzuki scored the lone goal to hand the Flyers their sixth straight loss, 5-4, on Saturday night.
