Today was an exciting day for MAAC (Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) as awards, star players, staff, and everyone behind the scenes were recognized in addition to a new season right around the corner.

Competitive colleges that consisted of thirteen incredibly talented teams joined together for a special breakfast tip-off event held at Ocean Casino Resort, Atlantic City, New Jersey.

The MAAC is getting ready to begin its season after just finishing the preseason. The Quinnipiac Men’s Basketball team itself is planning to start this year off on the right foot after finishing last season with an impressive stat line in the MAAC of a 15-5 regular season record.

The teams will be playing at no other than Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey. I had the honor of catching up with the head coach of Quinnipiac Tom Pecora asking the goals they have set for the upcoming season.

“Our goal is to win the conference championship or regular season championship” Coach Pecora shared. Although they were upset in the tournament, they are looking to “take the next step and to finish what they started”.

Just like Quinnipiac, every team in this fun-filled conference will be locked in and ready. Forward Amarri Monroe from Quinnipiac is one of the many highly skilled athletes and most recently named Preseason Player of the Year. He was kind enough to give his insight for what’s to come in the 24-25’ season.

“We fell short last year and can’t let that happen again, now of course being first in the preseason we have even a bigger target on our back, we have a special group and do some things”.

Monroe and his team plan to make a name for themselves just like the other thirteen basketball clubs. Make sure to stay tuned for what’s to come during the 2024-2025 season because it will be a great one.
