The Super Weekend is more than just the Big Game this year
Super Bowl 56 is this Sunday in Los Angeles at SoFi Stadium where the Cincinnati Bengals play the Los Angeles Rams. All eyes focused on Super Bowl 56. Right? … Wrong… The Philadelphia 76ers have stolen the focus away from the big game, thanks to the NBA Trade Deadline. On Thursday, the Sixers and the Brooklyn Nets agreed to a blockbuster trade in which the 76ers finally traded disgruntled former first overall pick in the 2016 NBA draft Ben Simmons. The deal included Philadelphia sending Seth Curry, Andre Drummond and two first-round picks to Brooklyn in exchange for Nine-time NBA All-Star and 2018 NBA MVP James Harden along with Four-time All-Star selection Paul Millsap. All the speculation has ended on a topic that has been discussed ad nauseam.
The Sixers front office, especially the President of Basketball Operations Daryl Morey, pulled off a trade that many said couldn't be done and will be talked about for years to come. Did the Sixers pay too much? Is James Harden the right piece to make the Sixers a legitimate contender in the Eastern Conference? We will soon find out! With the Super Bowl this weekend and the Sixers trade this week, The Locker Room with Billy Schweim will be a lively place.
