These South Jersey Towns Awarded Grants For Enviromental Preservation
Unless you haven't noticed the bombardment of Political Ads on every media platform, you know it is Election season, and one of the hottest topics every year is the environment.
New Jersey's nickname is The Garden State, and for good reason. It has over 50 State Parks and Forests and numerous government-protected nature reserves. For many people living in New Jersey, "Protecting the Enviroment" is not just a political agenda.
Atlantic City Electric's Sustainable Communities Grant Program is awarding $35,000 to seven different New Jersey Communities. This money will be used for improvements to parks and recreation resources along with open space preservation, and environmental conservation efforts.
These South Jersey Towns Have Been Selected To Receive Grant Money
According to Press Releases from Atlantic City Electric and the Sustainable Communities Grant Program, each of the seven New Jersey Towns will be receiving $5,000, and five of those Communities are located in South Jersey.
Maurice River Township
This grant will fund the creation of a new recreational area that will have a river walk, a boat ramp, an ADA-compliant shade structure along with new pavilions, and playground equipment.
Mullica Township
This money will fund the repairs to a high-water rescue vehicle used for emergency calls and repairs to one of the municipalities' Utility Terrain Vehicles.
Sea Isle City
This grand will fund additions and upkeep for the Townsends Inlet Waterfront Park. Located at the southernmost point of the Shore Town, the Nature Park will be getting new educational signage along with a pollinator pond, and expansion of the native plant garden.
The city will use this funding for a new nature trail that will feature educational signage along with recreational options for visitors.
Stafford Township
This money will be used to obtain a Tidal Gauge that uses modern technology to handle the municipality's water quality testing as part of the Township's Emergency Planning Initiative.
The other two New Jersey Communities that are receiving money from the Sustainable Communities Grant Program are both in Burlington County:
-Evesham Township will receive funding for additions and upgrades to a local park
-Medford Township is receiving the grant for improving the water quality and upgrading their canoe trail along with flood prevention.
