They’re Going Green! A Solar Powered Parking Lot Coming To Wildwood
Parking for Morey's Piers in Wildwood is about to look a lot like stadium parking in the coming weeks and months.
Wildwood Video Archive has revealed that visitors can soon expect to see solar panels installed within the parking lot along Ocean Avenue across from the old Hunt's Pier. Imagine coming off of the beach and boardwalk and getting into a car that hasn't been roasting in the hot sun for hours and hours. That's just one added bonus if the plans for the solar canopies are given a green light.
Apparently, this isn't the first initiative of Morey's Piers in an attempt to go green. Reportedly, the solar panels that currently sit on top of the piers' maintenance building were installed back in 2018 with the goal of reducing the piers' CO2 emissions.
If you're now finding yourself wondering where exactly all that power collected by the solar panels would go, well, that's a hard question to answer at the present time. Truthfully, that stored energy collected by the solar canopies could power anything within that specific grid that requires electricity.
Think about how massive Morey's Piers are and everything that needs to be powered on a daily basis. With the solar investments they're currently making, they're setting themselves up for huge savings in the long run. There's no confirmed start date for the project nor a predicted date for it to be completed, but the application is set to either be approved or denied in the coming days.
