Named after the former President of the Miss America Organization, the Adrian Phillips Theater is located on the concourse level of Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall.

Since 1929, the Atlantic City Boardwalk icon, which has two multi-purpose arenas, has hosted numerous concerts, sporting events, and entertainment showcases over the decades. The organ inside the Adrian Phillips Ballroom (now called Theater) is one of the largest original installations left in a United States public entertainment venue.

The Adrian Phillips Theater went through major upgrades in 2016 that have allowed a new era of entertainment. The president of one of the biggest Sports Entertainment properties made a major surprise announcement over the weekend in Atlantic City.

Big Crowd Sees Great Action inside Adrian Phillips Theater

On Saturday Night, All Elite Wrestling (AEW) hosted its weekly Saturday Show that airs on TBS inside Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall's Adrian Phillips Theater.

AEW Collision, which airs live from 8-10pm EST, was broadcast live in front of a raucous crowd in Atlantic City. There was a line at least half a mile long stretching out of the Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall around 630pm on Saturday Night.

Professional Wrestling fans were treated to "Dark Matches" (non-televised Pro Wrestling matches just for the fans in attendance) that featured Wrestling Stars from New Jersey, such as Jay Lethal and Deonna Purrazzo, who showcased their skills against members of the popular Ring of Honor Pro Wrestling Roster.

At the end of the AEW Collision broadcast on TBS, around 10:15 pm, the Atlantic City crowd was given one more surprise by the President and CEO of All Elite Wrestling.

AEW CEO and President Tony Khan Surprises Crowd in Atlantic City

All Elite Wrestling Co-Founder Tony Khan has an active role as the "Corporate Face" of the Professional Wrestling organization. The AEW President and CEO came out to speak to the Atlantic City crowd after the AEW Collision TBS live broadcast ended.

Khan saluted the vocal crowd inside Adrian Phillips Theater as he thanked all the Wrestling fans for coming out to support AEW. The 42-year-old sports entertainment executive made an impromptu announcement that AEW would be returning to Atlantic City in the near future, and fans can expect to hear more details soon.

973 ESPN reached out to AEW's PR representatives and got this quote from President and CEO Tony Khan:

“Atlantic City has already played host to some fantastic AEW moments, and we’re so proud to have brought wrestling back to Boardwalk Hall. Saturday’s episode of Collision once again proved that AEW is where the best wrestle, and Atlantic City’s loyal audience can expect more from us in the near future.”

One of those fantastic AEW moments involved four-time AEW Women's World Champion Toni Storm. After an entertaining match in which she got the victory against Lady Frost, Storm cut a great Wrestling Promo in which she utilized the famous Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall porch as she used the Atlantic City Boardwalk as the backdrop.
