Congratulations to Ocean City senior lacrosse star, Kristi Rohrer for taking home last week 97.3 ESPN High School Athlete of the Week honors.

Meanwhile, here is a new set of local student-athletes who shine on their respective fields, and each is now in the running to take home this week’s Athlete of the Week award.

Eric Barnes, Track and Field, Egg Harbor Township - The sophomore won the 800 meters in the South Jersey Open in 55.86 seconds, the fastest time among New Jersey high school runners this spring.

 

Dave Heuman, Baseball, Atlantic Christian - The junior struck out 19 batters in a seven inning shutout of Cumberland Christian, allowing just three hits.

 

Dave Hicks, Golf, Middle Township - The William & Mary recruit shot a one-under par 71 to win the Cape-Atlantic League Individual Tournament at Wildwood Golf & Country Club - it was the 3rd straight year he won the tournament.

 

Jack Loefflad, Baseball, Mainland - The senior had six hits, including a home run and a double, and drove home four runs to help the Mustangs, the highest ranked CAL team, to three more victories.

 

Ariel Magee, Softball, Lower Cape May - the Chestnut Hill recruit got her 100th career hit in a three-hit game against Atlantic Tech.

 

Bridget Ruskey, Lacrosse, Middle Township - She scored her 200th career goal, believed to be the first sophomore in South Jersey to ever reach that level, as well as 2 winning goals in 15-13 victory over Ocean City in a battle of CAL unbeatens.
