New Jersey was ranked seventh out of the 50 states, which is impressive, but when Far & Wide listed the reason why, it was a little surprising

Appropriately, when it comes to food, the Garden State might be best known for its tomatoes. Its huge Italian population means plenty of red-sauce joints and pizza that rivals even that of neighbor New York.

The state’s long immigrant history has helped shape a diverse cuisine scene, and it even has its own charcuterie: the Taylor Ham roll. Perhaps most importantly, Jersey has more diners than any other state. And let’s be real, it’s hard to go wrong with a Denver Omelet.

The Jersey tomato might be the most famous food item, but as the website points out, "Taylor Ham rool", known as pork roll in these parts, and the great diners stand out.

The Denver omelet, I'm not sure I have ever had before, which consists of eggs, bell peppers, onions, ham, and cheesebut hey, I'll have to find a spot that serves one, regardless, it is pretty cool to crack the Top 10.

What about our neighbors? Delaware came in at No. 32, Pennsylvania was No. 11, and New York was ranked No. 2.

California was ranked the best of the best coming in a No. 1 overall.  The worst?  Alaska was ranked No. 50.
