Every year, there seems to be a surprise breakout player that you didn't expect big things from but provides them for you.

Last season, it was quarterback Jalen Hurts, who went from middle-of-the-road starter to second in the MVP voting, leading the team to the Super Bowl.

So who will this year's Breakout Player be?

According to CBS Sports NFL writer Jared Dubin, who picked one breakout performer from every NFL team for the 2023 season, he likes third-year running back Kenneth Gainwell.

Amazingly, the Eagles have probably invested more in Gainwell than either player. And we already know he has the trust of the coaching staff based on how he was used last season -- especially in the playoffs. His career highs are just 68 carries and 101 touches, but if things break right he could double that this year. Given how efficient he's been (especially as a pass-catcher), that would lead to a nice bump in production.

Dubin mentions the additions of both Rashaad Penny and D'Andre Swift, but it will be interesting to see how they weave Gainwell into the offense after giving him 33 carries for 181 yards and one score in the 2022 playoffs.  He also added seven catches for 55 yards in the postseason.

Another breakout option? How about linebacker Nakobe Dean.

I'm looking at Dean to have a big impact in Sean Desai's new defense as the team's middle linebacker. Going back to Desai's defense in Chicago in 2021, Roquan Smith had a very productive season with 163 tackles, one interception, and three sacks for the Bears.

So who is your breakout player for 2023?
