Wildwood Catholic Alum Taj Thweatt Leaving West Virginia Basketball Program
Wildwood Catholic alum Taj Thweatt is leaving the West Virginia University basketball program, entering the transfer portal, per ESPN.
Thweatt's playing time has been limited since leaving Wildwood Catholic, appearing in just 12 total games in two seasons with the Mountaineers, who have a larger 15-man roster.
Last season, as a freshman, Thweatt averaged 0.4 and 0.8 rebounds per game over his nine games. This season, his playing time hasn't improved, appearing in just three contests, and has not appeared in a game since Dec 4.
While playing for the Crusaders, Thweatt was a dominate force in the Cape-Atlantic League, averaging 17.9 points and 7.3 rebounds per game as a senior for head coach Dave DeWeese. He led the Crusaders to three straight Cape-Atlantic League championships, ending his Wildwood Catholic career with 1,773 points and 1,028 rebounds.
Thweatt choose West Virginia over Temple, Florida, Rhode Island, Penn State and DePaul during his recruiting process.
