TORONTO — Even though the Flyers probably aren’t making any big moves ahead of next Monday’s trade deadline, their big pickup is on the way.

Injured center Sean Couturier, who has missed the last nine games due to a right leg injury, skated Sunday in Voorhees along with captain Claude Giroux, who missed Saturday’s overtime win against the Toronto Maple Leafs with an “upper-body injury” that may or may not be a concussion. General manager Ron Hextall won’t say.

Can Giroux play Tuesday against the Carolina Hurricanes?

“I don’t know the answer to that,” Hextall said, “but there’s certainly a possibility.”

And Couturier?

“I think it’s a possibility,” the GM said. “I wouldn’t say it’s a probability.”

It doesn’t look as good for defenseman Michael Del Zotto who will have surgery this Friday to repair a ligament in his left wrist and will miss three to four months, so he’s done for the season.

Outside of Couturier being a little ahead of schedule, there hasn’t been much to like for the Flyers recently.
