Ocean City Council to Decide Next Step for Former Wonderland Pier Site
After entertaining families at the Jersey Shore for 94 summer seasons, Wonderland Pier sat vacant of rides during 2025. Now, Thursday could mark a pivotal decision day for the future of the former amusement park site on the Ocean City Boardwalk.
City council members will vote and decide on what to do with the former amusement park, which closed down after 94 seasons following the 2024 season due to financial struggles.
Council to Consider Redevelopment Status for Wonderland Pier Site
The council is voting on a resolution, which would consider the park as an area in need of redevelopment. If that passes, the matter would appear in front of the Ocean City planning board.

Developer Eustace Mita and ICONA Resorts currently own the building and have pitched a multi-story 252-room hotel for the site that was formerly occupied by the amusement park; however, the council doesn't endorse that vision for the location at this time.
No development will be discussed at this meeting
A New Look at 600 Boardwalk This Summer
This summer, there were no rides, but there was some business at the former Wonderland Pier location at 600 Boardwalk. The Ocean City Pizza Company, Dead End Bakehouse, which serves bagels and coffee, and arcade games, replaced the bumper cars, roller coaster, and Ferris wheel.
ICONA Resorts has locations at the Jersey Shore, currently in Avalon, Cape May and Diamond Beach.
The City Council meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 21, in Council Chambers on the third floor of City Hall (861 Asbury Avenue).
