Are The 2017 Eagles Under Less Pressure Than The 2004 Team?
There are similarities between the 2017 Eagles and the previous Eagles teams that reached the Super Bowl during the 2004 and 1980 NFL seasons. All three started their season's 10-1, finished in the Top Ten in Total Offense and Defense, lost their final game of the regular season and all three defeated the Vikings during their playoffs run to the Super Bowl. When comparing the 2004 Eagles and 2017 Eagles, this season's Eagles scored more Points per Game (28.6) while the 2004 Defense allowed fewer Points Per Game (16.3).
Press of Atlantic City Eagles Beat Writer Dave Weinberg joined The Sports Bash on Wednesday discussing the differences between the 2004 Eagles and the 2017 Eagles:
“The 2004 team they were kind of expected to be (in the Super Bowl); they had come close the last three years in a row before that and they were loaded with stars like Donovan McNabb, Terrell Owens, and those guys it wasn’t a surprise at all for them to be (in the Super Bowl). This year’s team has really defied expectations when you consider all the injuries they’ve had and they also seem a little bit looser, I don’t want to say they are ‘Playing with House Money’ but they don’t seem to be feeling the pressure as much as maybe the 2004 team was.”
