Rumors have been swirling about the sale of the Whitebrier restaurant and bar in Avalon, which has been at its current location since 2002.

On Friday, the restaurant put those rumors to rest, confirming on social media that it had been bought by the Philadelphia Union League.

"Rumors and been swirling, and I am here to confirm them," the restaurant stated in a social media post. This post serves as our farewell. The Whitebrier has officially been purchased by The Philadelphia Union League. With no doubt, this is an incredible opportunity for them and the people of Avalon."

They went on to thank their staff, customers, and all the entertainers and performers who had worked at the restaurant over the years.

This isn't the first purchase for the Philadelphia Union League on Seven Mile Island, they also bought the Bungalow in Stone Harbor in 2014.

The Whitebrier was surely a summer favorite and a unique spot, boasting one of the largest outdoor dining areas at the Jersey Shore. It offers family-friendly fine dining in a variety of environments. The restaurant offers three distinct venues: The Motorboat Club Restaurant with 20 rotating beers on tap, the Octopus Garden an outdoor dining experience with shushi and cocktails, and Mermaid Cafe, which was more for the late-night crowd.

They noted they will be open for their annual shop-A-Holics event, offering the best deals from local boutiques, amazing sales, drink specials, live music, and more!
