The calendar may say late July, but that doesn't mean we're ready to turn the page on the 2013 baseball season here in South Jersey.

He's cracked 32 home runs on the season, and now he's a local baseball champion. He's also only 12 years old. Joey Moore has one of the hottest bats in all of South Jersey, and his Medford Renegades won six games in seven days to take the Cal Ripken 12-year-old 50/70 Southern New Jersey state title. He joined us on the South Jersey Sports Report to recap a thrilling season, and gave his expectations for the Renegades in the Mid-Atlantic Regional Tournament.

Another local team won't have to travel at all for their upcoming tournament; that's because the Sandcastle in Atlantic City will be the host site for the 13-15-year-old Babe Ruth Mid-Atlantic Regionals. We were joined by several members of the Atlantic Shore Babe Ruth team, and we asked them about the expectations that come with representing the tournament's 'home team'.

One local basketball product has been living the dream of playing professional basketball. Atlantic City's Frank Turner won a state title with the Vikings in 2005, and went on to be a team captain for Canisius College in upstate New York. Three years after graduation, he's continuing his professional basketball career overseas in Belgium. We asked him what it's been like adjusting to life away from family and friends, and found out some of the things this South Jersey native says he can't live without.

And if you're craving some hoops a little closer to home, the most famous basketball team in the world is preparing for an upcoming pit stop in South Jersey. The Harlem Globetrotters will be bringing their fresh, innovative game to our area when they descend on the Wildwood Convention Center from August 7th-10th. Number 11 'Cheese' Chisolm has ties to South Jersey, and will be among the faces you'll see on the court and the boardwalk next month. We asked him what's so special about returning home, and which Globetrotters moment he says he'll remember forever.
