The Shore’s Best Ice Cream Spots: Did Your Favorite Make the Cut?
As the summer at the shore is heading towards its final month, if you haven't already, now is the time to grab some ice cream from one of New Jersey’s best ice cream shops.
From Atlantic to Cape May County, every town has their go to ice cream shop; many deserve to be on the list of the best in New Jersey, but only a handful made the list from New Jersey Digest writers Ariana Lana and Peter Candia.
Overall, they listed over 30 ice cream shops, from North to South and in between, with just a handful coming from Atlantic and Cape May County.
Top Atlantic & Cape May County Ice Cream Spots
While there are plenty of Southern Jersey ice cream shops that belong on any list, just four from Atlantic and Cape May County appeared on the list.
The Original Kohr Brothers Frozen Custard – Multiple Locations
Royale Crown Ice Cream & Grille – Hammonton
Duffers Restaurant & Old Fashioned Ice Cream Parlor – Wildwood
Springer’s Homemade Ice Cream – Stone Harbor
Notable Omissions: Shore Favorites Left Off the List
While these places are all good, not having Jersey Cow, Little's Dairy Bar, Custard Last Stand, and more representation from the Southern beach towns, where ice cream is a summer tradition, seems like a miss.
Jersey Cow has four locations, and each one has been getting rave reviews for their homemade ice cream and unique flavors. Little's Dairy Bar has new owners, but has been around for generations. Custard's Last Stand has been a Ventnor tradition
But each of these places has something worth making a drive for.
Kohr Brothers: Kohr Brothers rose to fame because of their signature frozen custard, which is rich, creamy and sweet.
Royale Crown: If you happen to stop in during blueberry season, be sure to order appropriately—Hammonton is the blueberry capital of the world after all.
Duffers: This family-owned Wildwood institution has been in operation for 50 years and continues to make all of their ice cream in-house daily.
Springer's: The long line is well worth the wait, and flavors like Blueberry Cheesecake and Almond Amaretto are a must-try.
