There are 63 South Jersey School Districts that will see State Aid Cut for the 2024-25 School Year but none of those schools are in Cumberland County.  With 53 Public Schools and 11 Private Schools, Cumberland County has a rich history of manufacturing and agriculture.

South Jersey Schools With The Best and Worst Proficiency Scores

The website Public School Review gathered the Proficiency Scores from each New Jersey School, using that information to grade the quality of education. Their research found that among the 53 Public Schools in Cumberland County, the average Math Proficiency Score is 8 percent, and the average Reading Proficiency Score is 30 percent.

Those average Proficiency Scores are below the New Jersey State Proficiency Averages (Math: 26 percent - Reading: 47 percent).  These are the Cumberland County Public Schools that are ranked in the top 50 percent of New Jersey Public Schools by the website Public School Review:

1. Johnstone Elementary School (5th to 8th Grades)
Ranking in the Top 10 percent of schools in New Jersey, Johnstone Elementary Student Math Proficiency is 50-54 percent, which is significantly higher than the New Jersey state average (26 percent). Also, Johnstone Elementary School Students' Reading/Language Proficiency is 70-74 percent, which is higher than the New Jersey state average (47 percent).

2. Cumberland County Technical Education Center (9th to 12th Grades)
Ranking in the Top 20 percent of schools in New Jersey, Cumberland County Technical Student Math Proficiency is 46 percent, which is higher than the New Jersey state average (26 percent). Also, Cumberland County Tech High School Students' Reading/Language Proficiency is 70 percent, which is higher than the New Jersey state average (47 percent).

3. Millville Senior High School (9th to 12th Grades)
Ranking in the Top 30 percent of schools in New Jersey, Millville Senior High Student Math Proficiency is ≤50 percent, which is higher than the New Jersey state average (26 percent).
