With March Madness around the corner, attention turns to the conference tournaments, as fringe teams look to punch their ticket to the Big Dance, while juggernauts look to gather momentum heading into the NCAA tournament. Our Resortscasino.com betting guide gives you the run through on the big players from some of the most competitive conferences in America.

Atlantic Coastal Conference (ACC)

The ACC is home to two of College Basketballs’ powerhouse teams, UNC and Duke. This year, they are joined by Virginia, who are no.2 overall, and Florida State and Virginia Tech as one of five ranked teams from the conference. As always, it will take an extremely high level of play to win the tournament, and the March Madness winner will have to go through the ACC’s finest en route.

Virginia haven’t left the top five in the AP rankings at all this season and have only taken a couple of losses to a very strong Duke team. With a very talented squad, and a team used to winning, they are joint favourites alongside no. 5-ranked Duke to lift the trophy, at +120. Both are inseparable and should go very deep in a March run.

UNC had a difficult start to the season, but have turned it around in conference play, only dropping two games on their way to the ACC tournament. With a very well-rounded squad, they can beat the very best of teams, as seen when they defeated Duke just last week. A team that regularly finds its stride in March, North Carolina could use the ACC tournament as a springboard into the big dance. They are +350 to win the tourney.

Southeastern Conference (SEC)

The SEC has been incredibly competitive this season, with several very good teams performing above expectations. With three top 10 teams, the SEC will look to have a number of teams go deep in the Big Dance, whilst no.22 Auburn are also a difficult prospect on their day. The SEC tournament is set to be an extremely exciting warm up for March’s main event.

The Tennessee Volunteers spent much of the season flirting with the number one ranking, before losses to all three ranked conference rivals in the lead up to this tournament. The Vols are favourites for the SEC tournament however, at +190.

Kentucky are a young squad, but one that has developed remarkably over the course of the season. With a healthy and heated pair of games against Tennessee, which have been split, it seems the SEC championship runs through either the Wildcats or the Volunteers. The Wildcats are +200 for the SEC tournament, and an outside bet for March Madness as well.

Auburn were well worth the ranking they received at the start of the year, but an awful January week, which saw three straight losses, has led to a mixed end to the year. The Tigers have clawed back into the AP polls as the season ends but will do have to play very well to win the SEC tournament this year. They are +375.

LSU have experienced a difficult year off the court, but an excellent second half of the season has seen them rise to number 10 in the polls and look better and better as the season wears on. With only two conference losses, and wins against three ranked conference opponents, LSU could be the value bet in the SEC tournament. They are +450 but play way above those odds.
