The Flyers would like to start this shortened season over.

On the same day it was announced Scott Hartnell would be out indefinitely, the NHL suspended forward Brayden Schenn one game for his hit against the Devils Anton Volchenkov.

It was the NHL season's first suspension.

As you can see in the video below, Schenn clearly leaves his skates to deliver the check, but was not assessed a penalty.

Schenn will lose just over $4,700 based on his annual salary with the money going to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.

NHL VP of player safety, Brendan Shanahan also explains his decision below.

Schenn will miss Thursday nigh'ts game in Philadelphia against the New York Rangers.
