As Saturday's game progressed, the Flyers were locked in a tight defensive battle with the New Jersey Devils, one that saw just 31 combined shots between the two teams. It was a matter of who would blink first.

The Flyers got the eventual game-winning goal with 7:16 left in the third, on their way to a fourth win in the last five games, defeating the Devils, 3-1, at Prudential Center.

The Devils opened the scoring at 2:17. Dougie Hamilton fired a shot through a screen that beat Sam Ersson to make it 1-0 on his sixth of the season.

The Flyers had a 6-3 lead in shots through 20 minutes.

Just 1:56 into the second, the Flyers got the game tied up. Matvei Michkov got a breakaway off a Devils turnover and scored his 14th of the season to make it 1-1.

Shots were at a premium again, as through two periods, the Flyers held an 11-7 lead in shots on goal.

The Devils appeared to take the lead early in the third on a one-timer by Jesper Bratt. But after a coach's challenge, the play was offside and the game remained tied.

The Flyers took the lead at 12:44. On a power play, Bobby Brink finished off a chance from in front for his sixth goal of the season.

In the final seconds, Travis Konecny iced the game to seal the win.

Ersson made 12 saves on 13 shots in the win. Jake Allen made 15 saves on 17 shots in the loss.

Tyson Foerster finished with two assists for the Flyers.
