The Cape-Atlantic League is losing one of its top high school basketball coaches.

Egg Harbor Township boys' basketball coach Cameron Bell announced he is stepping down from the Eagles' sideline.

"I enjoyed my time coaching my Alma mater, and love EHT basketball with all of my heart and soul," Bell told me in a text message on Wednesday.

The 1994 EHT graduate guided the Eagles to a 128-106 record since taking over the program before the 2016-2017 season.

"My favorite memories are the season right before Covid when we went to double overtime with Cherry Hill East," Bell told me.  "Other memories include the Covid season when we went 14-1, and obviously the Rutgers run."

The Rutgers run he is talking about is during the 2022-2023 season when Bell led the Eagles to a 28-6 mark, which included a 10-game win streak, a Cape-Atlantic League and South Jersey Group IV championships before losing to Paterson Eastside in the state final.

"The program is in good shape and has some really promising young talent," Bell said.

The team went 13-13 last season, but returns plenty of talent, including Jalen Bell, Nick Cruse, and Dylan Slasbury.
