Circle Pizza in Avalon Closes for First Winter Since 1968

Circle Pizza has been at 2108 Dune Drive in Avalon since 1968 and has been open year-round the entire time.

Until now.

Circle Pizza Announces Seasonal Closure

The stalwart pizza parlor announced on social media that it would be closing its doors for the season on November 1 for the winter season and re-opening on May 1st, 2026.

Sadly we will be closing for the season! This is a first for us and is not what we want to do but unfortunately given how slow the town has been it’s forcing our hand. We thank you all for your support and cannot wait to see you all again in May! Love Circle Pizza!

 

Why the Avalon Staple Is Closing for Winter

The pizza shop cites the lack of traffic from people in the offseason as the reason they are shutting down. According to the most recent census in 2024, the overall population in Avalon in the offseason is just 1,216 people, which is down from 1,243 in 2020.

Overall, the population, when you add in 7 Mile Island neighbor Stone Harbor, is just 2,000 people.

Circle Pizza is a spot that many people have probably tried, sitting on the corner of 21st and Dune Drive, which is located next door to the Princeton in Avalon. Many people have likely visited Princeton for a night out and had a slice (or two) from Circle Pizza.

The Princeton is open year-round, but this season, there will be no Circle pizza stop for you if you head to Avalon, at least until May 1.
