To be honest, I almost skipped the game because of the awesome weather, but that would have deprived readers of my pithy observations on social media.

Three stars

1. Eagles running back Saquon Barkley (became the ninth player in NFL history to reach 2,000 rushing yards in a season).
2. Eagles quarterback Tanner McKee (2 touchdown passes in relief of Kenny Pickett).
3. Eagles quarterback Kenny Pickett (1 TD pass, 1 TD run in relief of Jalen Hurts).

Eagles’ best play

Safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson opened the scoring by returning an interception 70 yards for a touchdown on the Cowboy’s first possession.

Eagles’ worst play

Wide receiver A.J. Brown committed a potentially serious gaffe by catching McKee’s first career TD pass and throwing the football deep into the stands.  Fortunately, the fans returned the ball to the team.

Turning point

The Eagles took the lead for good on Pickett’s 22-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver DeVonta Smith in the second quarter that gave them a 14-7 lead.

Did you notice?

The Eagles swept the regular-season series against the Cowboys for the first time since 2011.… They clinched their 13^th NFC East title in franchise history.… The Eagles can be no worse than the No. 2 seed in the playoffs.… The Eagles’ 41 points were their most scored against the Cowboys since they put up 44 in 2008.… Gardner-Johnson had two interceptions a week after getting ejected against the Commanders.… Eagles cornerback Darius Slay gave a football to season-ticket holder and three-time A.L. MVP Mike Trout.… Barkley (2,003 yards) is 103 yards away from breaking the NFL single-season rushing record of 2,105 set by the Rams’ Eric Dickerson in 1984.
