Right before the NHL Trade Deadline on Monday, the Flyers came to an agreement with the Predators to trade Wayne Simmonds to Nashville in exchange for Forward Ryan Hartman and a conditional fourth-round pick in 2020 that would become a third-round pick if Nashville advances to the second round of the playoffs this season.  Simmonds finished his Flyers career with 584 Games Played and 203 Goals Scored.  His 91 Power Play Goals over the last eight seasons has him ranked Seventh Most PPG in Flyers Franchise History.

ESPN NHL Analyst and NHL Network Contributor Barry Melrose joined The Sports Bash on Monday to discuss the Wayne Simmonds trade:

"When you have players who are going to be traded (like Wayne) Simmonds....everyone has illusions of (their team) getting three first round picks, two second round picks, couple of third round picks for your player - (General Managers) have gotten smarter over the years too; First round picks are not as easy to get as they once were and I think that sort of happened for Philadelphia.  (Simmonds is) going to go to Nashville and be a big part of that team....He’s a big physical player, he’s tough to handle, he’s good on the power play, he has scored a lot of power play goals for Philly over the years.  I like the deal for Nashville; Nashville made a couple trades earlier (this year that) didn’t really seem to give them the jolt that they wanted, but I think Simmonds will be a great fit - Did (the Flyers) get enough for him? You got a proven NHL player in (Ryan) Hartman and again I think that’s what happened, the market wasn’t quite what people thought it was and the (draft) picks that everybody thought they were gonna get, they didn’t get.”
