Mariota, who spent just one season in Philadelphia, gets a one-year deal with a base salary of $6 million with a chance to make up to $10 million.

Mariota appeared in just three games for the Eagles, throwing one touchdown and one interception.  He completed 65% of his passes for 164 yards, running eight times for 52 yards.

The veteran has played in 90 NFL games tossing for 15,820 yards, 93 touchdowns and 55 interceptions since entering the league in 2015. The former No. 2 overall pick in the NFL draft has been bouncing around the league with stops in Tennessee, Vegas, Atlanta, Philadelphia and now Washington.

He should compete or backup for the starting job with the Commanders a good bet to draft a quarterback with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

It appears last years starter Sam Howell might be on his way out of the nations capital.
