Eagles' worst number: 1 (Second-half touchdowns)

View from my living room:
I was still recovering from our annual barbecue yesterday. Great food, drinks and tequila shots with good friends and family made for a tremendous evening.

Three stars

  1. Eagles place-kicker Jake Elliott (2-for-2 field goals, including the aforementioned 58-yarder in the second quarter).
  2. Eagles safety Andrew Mukuba (41-yard interception return).
  3. Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes (accounted for both touchdowns via run and pass).

Eagles’ best play

Wide receiver DeVonta Smith set up the Eagles’ decisive touchdown in the fourth quarter by outleaping Chiefs cornerback Trent McDuffie to grab a 28-yard pass from quarterback Jalen Hurts.

Eagles’ worst play

The Chiefs drew within a field goal in the fourth quarter when wide receiver Tyquan Thornton got behind the Eagles’ secondary and hauled in a 49-yard TD pass from quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Turning point

The Eagles were clinging to a 13-10 lead in the fourth quarter when the Chiefs had second-and-goal from the Eagles’ 6-yard line. Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce bobbled a pass from Mahomes; Mukuba intercepted it at the goal line and returned it 41 yards to set up the Eagles’ final TD.

Did you notice?

Chiefs rookie tackle Josh Simmons saved a TD by hustling downfield and tackle Mukuba.… Several replays shown on social media seemed to indicate the Eagles’ offensive line was guilty of moving too early on their “Tush Push” plays.… Wide receiver AJ Brown caught a pass on the Eagles’ first possession after getting shut out until the fourth quarter last week.… Newly acquired edge rusher Za’Darius Smith made an impact with a half-sack and a tackle for loss.… Vineland native Isiah Pacheco had 10 carries for 22 yards and caught a 7-yard pass for the Chiefs.… Eagles have now scored at least 20 points in 19 straight games, including playoffs.… The Chiefs and Mahomes are now 0-2 for the first time since 2014, when he was a high school sophomore and Andy Reid was in his first season coaching the team.
