The biggest news coming out of the Philadelphia Eagles' loss to the Washington Commanders in NFL Week 16 was not the end of the Eagles' 10-game winning streak.

When Starting Quarterback Jalen Hurts left the game to be evaluated for a Concussion, Eagles fans everywhere had a range of feelings of worry to uncertainty to anxiety about the unknown.

This week, Jalen Hurts has been in the NFL Concussion Protocol and has not been on the field for any of the Eagles' Practices.  When Philadelphia signed Quarterback Ian Book to the Practice Squad on Thursday, that was the first signal that the Eagles were planning to play without their Franchise Quarterback this Sunday.

At Friday's Press Conference, Eagles Head Coach Nick Sirianni told the media that because Jalen Hurts is in the NFL Concussion Protocol "it's going to be tough for him to make it this week".

But the Eagles Franchise Quarterback is not the only star player who not be playing this Sunday when the Dallas Cowboys come to Lincoln Financial Field. The Eagles will be wearing their Kelly Green Uniforms without multiple players on the offensive side of the ball.

Both Eagles and Cowboys Rule Out Star Players For Sunday's Rematch

With the Eagles officially ruling Jalen Hurts out for this Sunday's game, Philadelphia will turn to Kenny Pickett to make his first start as Eagles Quarterback. Pickett started 24 games during his two seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Pickett, a graduate of Ocean Township High School, grew up an Eagles fan. The 26-year-old Quarterback worked with the Starting Offensive Players at Practice all week and should be well-prepared to be Philadelphia's starter. Coming off the bench last Sunday in relief of Jalen Hurts, Pickett had 143 Passing Yards with One Touchdown and One Interception.

Eagles Wide Receiver and Punt Returner Britain Covey will be unavailable to play for the fourth straight game.  Usually, when a player could potentially miss four or more games, an NFL Team will place him on short-term Injured Reserve. So it is safe to assume the Eagles didn't know that Covey's Neck injury would be serious enough to keep off the field for four weeks.

The other Eagles player who is in NFL Concussion Protocol is Rookie Running Back Will Shipley. Also sustaining a Concussion in the Eagles' loss to the Commanders, Shipley is a valuable Special Teams Contributor who has played over 60 percent of the Eagles' Special Teams Snaps this season.

Two Eagles players to keep an eye on their status before 1 pm Kickoff this Sunday are Bryce Huff and Nakobe Dean.

The Edge Rusher Huff is returning from Wrist Surgery and is listed as Questionable for the Cowboys game. The Linebacker Dean is listed as Doubtful for Sunday's game because he is dealing with an Abdomenal Injury that has Limited his participation at practice this week.

The star player who will not be playing this Sunday for the Dallas Cowboys is Wide Receiver CeeDee Lamb. The All-Pro Receiver had been playing through an AC Joint Shoulder Injury and the Cowboys Doctors decided he should be shut down for the rest of the season.

Two other players the Cowboys will be without when they play the Eagles this Sunday are Defensive Backs Amani Oruwariye and Kemon Hall. An important depth player for the Cornerback position, Oruwariye is dealing with a Foot Injury. Hall is a Special Teams Contributor who has played almost a third of the Cowboys Special Teams Snaps this season.

After starting three games, TJ Bass is doubtful to play in Philadelphia due to a Thigh Injury. The Cowboys Offensive Line is already thin due to injuries and without Bass, they will be very vulnerable against Jalen Carter and the Eagles Defensive Line.

The Cowboys Injury Report lists seven players as Questionable to play versus the Eagles. Two Defensive Starters who could be unavailable on Sunday are Linebacker Eric Kendricks (Calf Issue) and Safety Donovan Wilson (Knee Issue).

Two other players listed as Questionable are Wide Receiver Jalen Tolbert and Linebacker Nick Vigil Tolbert is dealing with a Finger Injury and without him, the Cowboys would be without two of their top Wide Receivers. Vigil is an important Special Teams Contributor for the Cowboys and is dealing with a Foot Injury.

The Eagles will still have their Star Running Back Saquon Barkley on the field when they play the Cowboys this Sunday. He has the top-selling Eagles Jersey in 2024. Here's the full list of Eagles players with the best selling Jerseys:
