Many local Cape-Atlantic League high school baseball graduates have gotten off to great starts this season at the collegiate level.

On Saturday, EHT High School alum, Cam Flukey pitched a gem for Coastal Carolina, going five-inning, and giving up no runs. He faced 19 hitters, giving up just one hit, and striking out eight.

As a senior at EHT, Flukey had a 0.45 ERA with 83 strikeouts and 19 hits allowed in 46.2 innings pitched. Overall in three seasons with the Silver Eagles, Flukey had a 1.79 ERA and 158 strikeouts in 93.2 innings pitched.

Flukey is one of many area baseball players who have shined at the Division I college level.

Rutgers has multiple local players, including two from EHT, Jordan and Justin Sweeney. They also feature Holy Spirit's Trevor Cohen, ACIT's Tony Santa Maria, and Cedar Creek's Christian Coppola, who was the Big Ten Pitcher of the Week during the final week of February.

Mainland graduate Cole Campbell is at NJIT and was recently named the American East Rookie of the Week.
