
Former Phillies Ace Cole Hamels Up for Hall of Fame in 2026
Former Philadelphia Phillies closer Billy Wagner is headed to the Hall of Fame. Next year, another forner Phillies pitcher is on the ballot for the first-time.
Cole Hamels highlights the first-time eligibles for 2026. While Wagner's election was in his final year on the ballot, Hamels will be making his first appearance.

Although he was never an Cy Young, he had a solid 15-year career, mostly with the Phillies, winning a NLCS and World Series MVP in 2008 and Hamels, a four-time All-Star and World Series MVP in 2008, notching 163 career wins, 2,560 strikeouts and a 3.43 ERA and 1.18 WHIP in 2,693.3 innings pitched.
Among Hamels highlights include four All-Star game appearances, a no-hitter in 2015 in his final Phillies appearance before he was traded to Texas.
He was his best during the Phillies 2008 run to the winning a World Series, going 4-0 in five postseason starts with a 1.80 ERA.
He will be one of three Phillies on the ballot next season with Chase Utley and Jimmy Rollins coming up short this year.
One other player who spent time playing for the Phillies, Hunter Pence, will also be on the ballot for the first time next year. Pence parts of two seasons in Philadelphia in 2011-2012, coming over in a trade from Houston where he spent the first five years of his big league career.
