Alex Padovani has helped Hammonton collect four consecutive wins. His efforts against Bridgeton earned him honors as our 97.3 ESPN FM High School Athlete of the Week.

The senior standout is a key contributor for the Blue Devils in all three phases of the game. Padovani put on a memorable performance during a 24-6 victory at previously unbeaten Bridgeton.

He caught a pair of touchdown passes for the third straight game, did damage on defense at safety and kept his team ahead with key kicks. Padovani nailed a field goal attempt and added three extra points in the process.

The Hammonton standout is committed to play football at Villanova next year. He received 57 percent of the total vote, which featured more than 18,000 total votes.

Fellow Cape-Atlantic League football standout Austin Francisco finished second with 39 percent of the vote. Bri Angellella (Southern Regional field hockey), Rob Ennis (Millville football) and Carlos Molina (Pleasantville soccer) rounded out the list of candidates.

Be sure to look for a new list of Athlete of the Week candidates every Thursday. Vote early and often  through Saturday mornings. Tyler Donohue will announce the winner Saturdays at 11 a.m. on The South Jersey Sports Report (9-noon).
