How Have The Eagles Running Backs Performed In 2017?
Heading into the final three games of the season with their backup Quarterback at the helm of the offense, expectations are that the Eagles will lean on the running game even more moving forward. The Eagles are Second in the NFL in Rushing Yards Per Game (143.0) with three Running Backs having Rushed for at least 290 Yards this season. Corey Clement leads the team in Rushing Touchdowns with Four while LeGarrette Blount leads the team in Rushing Yards with 696 and Jay Ajayi is averaging the most Rushing Yards Per Game with 64.4
Turron Davenport of USA Today Eagles Wire joined Mike Gill on Wednesday discussing the play of the Running Backs in 2017:
“I see a more effective runner out of the three (Running Backs) in Jay Ajayi; He’s a guy that hits these holes pretty well, he’s hard to tackle, he get yards after contact – (LeGarrette) Blount is still there, he’s 250 pounds, he has a thirst for contact, he loves to run people over and that kind of stuff wears down on defenses over time. That will even help (slow down) the pass rush….And Corey Clement, the sense of urgency he runs with, I like watching that kid play; I’ve come full circle, he was a guy I didn’t think should have made the roster but now he is someone I look forward to watching every week and I give him credit for just going out and proving people, like myself, wrong.”
