The Philadelphia Eagles off season is getting a head start.

According to a tweet from Paul Domowitch, Howard Mudd has said he will retire at the end of the season.

"I gotta be a grandpa," Mudd said.

Mudd, 70, was hired last season taking over for Juan Castillo who was promoted to defensive coordinator.

Four out of the five projected opening day starters have been in and out of the lineup with injuries. Todd Herremans, Jason Kelce and Jason Peters all suffered season ending injuries.

With wide-9 poster boy Jason Babin released this week, many expect wholesale coaching changes including high profile defensive line coach Jim Washburn at the end of the season.
