
More Extras Needed For Spielberg’s NJ Movie Shoot
Stephen Spielberg's movie filming has been a hot topic around South Jersey this week.
Scenes for the new Universal Pictures UFO-centered flick are being shot at various locations, including Buena Vista, Woodbine and Upper Township.
The famed E.T. director has been onsite as special effects scenes involving railroads and car chases are filmed along the Seashore Lines tracks in Tuckahoe.
Spielberg's Movie's Impact in South Jersey
The movie, which is rumored to be called The Dish, but is using the code name Non-View, has a star-studded cast including Emily Blunt (Oppenheimer), Colin Firth (The King’s Speech), Josh O’Connor (Challengers), Eve Hewson (Flora and Son), and Colman Domingo (Sing Sing), but this week's work seems to be mostly focused on stunt doubles.
The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that the production has brought a crew of about 150 people to South Jersey, staying in Sea Isle, Avalon, and Ocean City and visiting local businesses.
The New Jersey Motion Picture and Television Commission says major film productions are increasingly choosing Jersey for our range of locations and financial incentives.
It was just last May when scenes for the Bob Dylan biopic, A Complete Unknown, starring Timothée Chalamet were shot in South Jersey, with Cape May being used as a stand-in for Newport, Rhode Island in scenes depicting the 1965 Newport Folk Festival.
Word is the movie, which was written by Spielberg and longtime collaborator David Koepp, is set to hit theaters in May 2026.
Another New Jersey Casting Call
The production is set to wrap up scenes in South Jersey this week and pick up filming in Middlesex County on Thursday, March 27.
Extras with cars-- not red or white-- are needed as background actors.
Extras will be paid $216 for work if they are in the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) and $181,50 for 10 hours if they are not.
People whose cars are used in the scene will receive an additional $37.50, according to the casting ad from Grant Wilfrey casting.
