Man with kids pulls gun on unruly shopper: Glassboro, NJ, Police
A bad situation almost turned a lot worse inside of a comic book store in Gloucester County this past weekend.
Glassboro Police say that at around 11:30 Saturday morning, April 12th, their officers were called to The Comic Book Store on North Main Street for an incident involving a gun.
According to authorities, a customer in the store had been acting disorderly and was asked to leave by employees when that customer threatened physical violence. Then, another patron, later identified as Justin Fernandez of Sicklerville, allegedly pulled out a gun in an attempt to intimidate that disorderly customer.
Police further described the situation in a Facebook post, saying,
Fernandez’s two children were present for the incident and his 9 year old is seen in surveillance video pulling down Fernandez’s arm in an attempt to get him to put the gun away.
By the time officers arrived, both Fernandez and the other customer had left.
On Monday, police say Fernandez, who does not have a concealed carry permit nor any guns registered to his name, came to headquarters to speak to a detective. He was then charged with second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon and second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. He was processed and released on a summons pending a court date.
No injuries were reported in the incident.
The public is reminded that charges are accusations and all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
