Wednesday Injury Report: Lane Johnson Returns as Eagles Prepare for 49ers Playoff Matchup
The Philadelphia Eagles chose to rest their starters on Sunday in Week 18 against Washington and now enter the NFC Wild Card round pretty healthy ahead of their matchup with the San Francisco 49ers.
Nick Sirianni on the Benefit of Week 18 Rest
"I think anytime they get some time off, that definitely helps," Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni said on Wednesday. That's why we decided to do what we did last week and it's a long season, marathon of a season. There's still going to be bumps and bruises that guys are going to have to deal with. You feel your best day one of training camp usually, and then these guys are warriors. They battle through things throughout the entire year."
On the team's first injury report ahead of their playoff tilt, only two players did not practice, with some key names returning to the practice field on Wednesday.
Starting right tackle Lane Johnson and linebacker Nakobe Dean were both back as limited participants, with Jalen Carter, Marcus Epps, and Dallas Goedert also listed as limited. The big name is Johnson, who suffered a Lisfranc sprain to his left foot back in mid-November in a Week 11 win over the Detroit Lions.
"Obviously, Lane's a big difference maker, and I know he is working crazy to get himself back, and we will see where that is this week," Sirianni stated. But he's a difference maker."
As for Dean, Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio sis say on Tuesday that he expected him to play in the game.
"I do expect Nakobe to play," Fangio said.
The team also opened the 21-day practice window for edge rusher Azeez Ojulari, who has been dealing with a hamstring injury.
