Local High School Basketball Ref has Passed Away After a Bout with COVID-19
As the Coronavirus continues to affect lives both nationally and locally, a local basketball referee has lost his battle with the virus.
Marty Derer, has passed away after a bout with COVID-19.
His last game was on March 12, a NJSIAA Semifinal Round game in the Group 3 girls tournament at West Deptford High, between the Ocean Cit girls and Westampton Tech.
The Red Raiders won the game, it would be their final game of the season.
The game was played in front of an empty gym, and was one of New Jersey’s last sporting events.
