A week ago Mike McGarry from the Press of Atlantic City joined the show and suggested a plan which would move the high school football season to the spring and the high school baseball season to the fall.

Today per McGarry, Mainalnd Regional athletic director Mike Gatley made a formal proposal to flip-flop the two seasons.  Under Gatley's proposal the fall sports would all move to the spring, and the spring sports would all move to the fall.

“I’m not in favor of switching seasons," Gatley told the Press of Atlantic City. " But I’m also not in favor of these kids losing any more opportunities.”

McGarry discussed the idea of just football and baseball flipping, which raised some questions throughout the high school sports community.  Kids who play football and lacrosse would have to choose which sport they would stay with.  Baseball players who played soccer would have to pick between the two.

Under Gatley's proposal you would see Baseball, softball, cross country, tennis, track & field, golf, volleyball and crew being played in the fall.  Meanwhile, Football, soccer, field hockey, lacrosse, wrestling would reside in the spring of 2021.

"I don’t see how we’re going to be able to get that far that quick," Gatley told the Press of AC on the topic of playing football in the fall. "We can make other sports work.”
