Mainland basketball alum Osun Osunniyi, a Pleasnatville resident, has gotten off to a fast start in his senior season for St. Bonaventure (5-0).

His skill set was on full display on Sunday night in the Bonnies 70-54 victory over Marquette, scoring 16 points, grabbing 11 rebounds and blocking four shots in 30 minutes.

The current Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Year is also on the Kareem Abdul-Jabaar Center of the Year Watch List after averaging 10.7 points, 9.4 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 21 contests games last season.

So far this season, the former Mustang is averaging 8.2 points, 7.8 rebounds and has blocked 19 shots already this season.

While at Mainland, as a senior, the 6-foot-10 center, averaged 14.4 points and 11.4 rebounds per game, helping to lead Mainland to a 22-6 record that season.

If you want to see Osunniyi in person, he will be in New Jersey against UCONN on Dec 11 at Newark's Prudental Center. He will also be in Philadelphia on Jan. 11 against LaSalle, Feb 26 at St Joe's.
