Margate Announces Reopening of Several Recreation Activities
Who is ready to play some pickleball? That popular game, mixing aspects of badminton and table tennis, and several other recreational activities are scheduled to reopen in Margate on Friday, May 29.
The Margate Rec. Department announced Wednesday, beginning Friday, tennis courts, basketball courts, the Jerome Ave. baseball fields and pickelball courts would all reopen.
Playgrounds are a different story.
Dr. Peter Chin-Hong, M.D., an infectious disease specialist at the University of California summed up reopening playgrounds this way for the New York Times, “The playground is like the Wild West compared to the controlled play date".
At a playground, you might not know the other kids or what their exposure to the virus is and you can’t control their behavior or their numbers.
For now, Margate playgrounds will remain closed.
