Morey’s Piers Retires Iconic Thrill Ride After 25 Seasons
After 25 seasons of thrilling visitors and locals in Cape May County, the iconic SkyCoaster at Morey's Piers in Wildwood is officially retiring.
Morey's Piers Confirms Farewell on Social Media, Sunday.
Thank you to everyone who faced their fears and took the leap with us! As we say goodbye to this iconic ride, we’re already hard at work reimagining Adventure Pier so that there can be many more adventures to come in future years.
The ride is described as part sky diving, part hang gliding from a height of over 100 feet, accommodating up the three riders at a time.
As for a replacement plan, while nothing is official, the pier did hint that something new could be on the way, saying "we’re already hard at work reimagining Adventure Pier so that there can be many more adventures to come in future years."
The Skycoaster in Wildwood was one of three in New Jersey, with one at the Casino Pier in Seaside Heights and the other, which was called the Dare Devil Dive, at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, which closed during the 2024-25 offseason.
Not the Only Change: Giant Wheel Undergoing Major Refurbishment
That's not the only change at the iconic Wildwood pier. The Giant Wheel, Morey's Ferris wheel, is currently being worked on, undergoing major upgrades during the offseason, but should be back and ready for the summer of 2026.
Morey’s Piers has confirmed to the Wildwood Video Archive that the massive Ferris wheel on Mariner’s Pier will be disassembled this offseason for an extensive refurbishment project aimed at preserving the landmark for future generations.
