Coffee consumption in the United States is at its highest levels in 20 years, and today Coffee is the most consumed beverage in America.

According to the 2024 National Coffee Data Trends, 67 percent of Americans consume coffee daily. In the United States, individual weekly coffee consumption increased by four percent from 2023 to 2024.

But any coffee connoisseur knows that not all cups of joe are the same brew. Similar to drinking tea, beer, and wine, not all coffee has the same quality. Similar to the craft drinks industry, local coffee shops that are not part of corporate chains are growing in popularity.

Townsquare Media reported earlier this year about a new coffee shop coming to The Wildwoods this Summer.  We can now confirm another locally owned coffee spot is opening in South Jersey, this one will be located on a popular State Highway.

New Coffee Shop Coming Soon To New Jersey Route 47

One of the most popular connections from the Philadelphia Suburbs to the popular South Jersey Shore Towns is Route 47. The 75.2-mile state highway starts in Brooklawn, Camden County and ends in Wildwood, Cape May County.

This is one of the most traveled roads in South Jersey, and coming soon is a new coffee shop that will be a great option for locals and vacationers who frequently use Route 47.

Located adjacent to Mile Marker 12 on the southbound side of Route 47 is where Harbor Coffee House will be opening this year. The location for years was a live crab store and boat repair shop.

There is already open space and lowered ground for vehicles to pull up for parking, so Harbor Coffee House already has a good location for customers to pull into. According to social media posts, one of their main coffee distributors will be La Colombe Coffee Roasters.

While we do not have an official opening date for Harbor Coffee House yet, their Instagram account says they will be opening "Spring 2025" and they shared this with their followers:

"We want to be a staple in our community to bring not only people together but also highlight other local creative businesses through our craft shows we hope to have in the warm summer months. We cannot express how excited and grateful we are to have this space to share coffee, good food, laughs and times together. We don’t have any updates yet for opening date but we are doing our best to make it happen soon."

Nothing against Wawa, Starbucks, or Dunkin, but I enjoy a local coffee shop that puts their passion and hard work into every cup.  Who doesn't love a fresh cup of coffee while supporting the local community?

The great small businesses you find in South Jersey is one of the many reasons that I love Cape May County:

10 Favorite Things about Cape May County, NJ

The history of Cape May County predates the formation of the United States of America by about 100 years as it was one of the first counties established in what was originally known as the West New Jersey Provence. Cape May County's historical records go back as far as 1685 and the County was originally established in 1692. Cape May County has been a huge part of my life and that of my family's for decades, so I wanted to share with you my favorite aspects of the southern most County in the state of New Jersey.
