New Eagles injury update paints uncertain picture for this weekend
In NFL Week 6, the Philadelphia Eagles lost to the New York Giants for the first time in 641 days and only the second loss to their NFC East rivals since the 2021 NFL season.
The lopsided 34-17 loss was shocking, even though the Eagles were playing without All-Pro Defensive Lineman Jalen Carter and Pro Bowl Left Guard Landon Dickerson. Now Philadelphia is preparing to avoid their first season losing twice to the New York Giants since 2007.
The Eagles did not emerge from their win over the Minnesota Vikings without injuries, the most significant one being Starting Center Cam Jurgens, who left the game this past Sunday. After their first practice of the week as they prepare for their rematch for the Giants, Philadelphia released a concerning Injury report.
Five Eagles Players Did Not Practice on Wednesday
The one player that no one was surprised to see not practice was Cam Jurgens. who is dealing with a Knee Injury. Earlier this season, the 26-year-old Starting Center admitted to the media that he has been playing through injuries this year, so this Knee Issue must be serious enough that he is being forced to not practice.
After Brett Toth struggled to fill in for Jurgens at Center this past Sunday, there is speculation that either Landon Dickerson could slide over to play Center or Rookie Drew Kendall would get the first-team offensive reps this week. Both men started over 20 games at Center during their College Football careers.
The surprising name on the Eagles' Wednesday Injury Report is Wide Receiver AJ Brown. The three-time Second Team All-Pro Selection was seen at practice wearing Black Sweatpants and a Black Hooded Sweatshirt talking with Eagles Chief Security Officer Dom DiSandro.
Less than 24 hours after Brown's latest cryptic social media post, the Eagles Wide Receiver did not practice because of a Hamstring Injury. The 28-year-old has been dealing with lingering hamstring issues over the last couple years, so the whole football world will be monitoring his progress this week ahead of the Giants game.
Adoree Jackson, who left Sunday's win over the Vikings after sustaining a Concussion, was also not participating in Wednesday's Practice. The 30-year-old Cornerback must clear the NFL's Concussion Protocol by Friday or he will be unavailable for Sunday's game.
Even though Philadelphia opened the 21-day Practice Window for Jakorian Bennett, it is unlikely that he would be ready to start an NFL after missing the last few weeks recovering from a Pectoral Injury. Without Jackson, the Eagles are likely to start thrd-year Cornerback Kelee Ringo.
The other two players who did not practice on Wednesday are Defensive End Azeez Ojulari (Hamstring Issue) and Linebacker Jeremiah Trotter Jr. (Ankle Issue). But players are not starters on the Eagles Defense but are considered value depth players for a team that is already dealing with multiple injury issues.
