Even though the Philadelphia Eagles are 5-2 this season, there are some obvious flaws on both sides of the ball.

There are 17 NFL teams with four or more wins after seven weeks of the 2025 season. The Eagles have the fifth-worst Point Differential among those prospective playoff teams. Philadelphia is only top ten in the NFL in two out of 21 Team Statistical Categories.

The two main areas of struggle for the Eagles this year have been at Outside Cornerback and the Offensive Line. Philadelphia came into the 2025 season with the hope that players such as Adoree Jackson, Kelee Ringo, and Tyler Steen could fill the void of players who left in Free Agency, like Darius Slay, Isaiah Rodgers, and Mekhi Becton.

But injuries on the Eagles' offensive line has exposed the lack of quality depth on the roster, while Ringo and Jackson have struggled in Pass Coverage this season.

Latest Eagles News That Can Help Philadelphia's Depth Issues

On Wednesday morning, Philadelphia announced two roster moves that will recalibrate the Eagles' depth at two different position groups:

-Opened the 21-Day Practice window for Cornerback Jakorian Bennett
-Signed Guard Sua Opeta to the Practice Squad.

Bennett sustained a Pectoral Injury in the Eagles' win over the Los Angeles Rams in NFL Week 3. The 25-year-old Cornerback was acquired by Philadelphia on August 4th to help the depth in the defensive secondary. But Defensive Coordinator Vic Fangio did not see enough from the former Raiders Corner to give him the start over Jackson or Ringo earlier this season.

Since Bennett was placed on the Injured Reserve list, the Eagles' defense is allowing 25.5 Points Per Game Against.  Both Kelee Ringo and Adoree Jackson have struggled in multiple games this season, so we will see if Bennett can ramp up at practice to be a contributor on the field.

Sua Opeta was an Undrafted Free Agent, originally signed by Philadelphia in 2019. The 29-year-old Offensive Lineman spent time on the Eagles Roster and Practice Squad from 2019-2023 during which he started 10 games at Guard and was active for 38 games.

Opeta has spent the last two years on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Practice Squad and Roster, but did not start any games before the team released him on October 7th. The Eagles have been dealing with injuries with three of their five starting offensive linemen this season, and Opeta gives Philadelphia some valuable depth on the interior offensive line.

Even though the Eagles' Coaching Staff publicly voiced their confidence in reserve offensive linemen Brett Toth and Matt Pryor, both men have struggled when asked to play this season. Opeta has more playing experience compared to Toth and has a history of being more reliable than Pryor.
