NFL.com: Howie Roseman Ranked as a Top 15 GM in the NFL
According to one NFL.com writer, Gregg Rosenthal, Eagles General Manager Howie Roseman is one of the top 15 GM’s in the league.
The NFL writer ranked the NFL’s general managers from 1 to 22 with the remaining 10 general managers be "too new" to be ranked.
Of the 22 NFL general managers ranked, Rosenthal ranked Roseman 14th in the league and is the top GM in the NFC East. Dallas GM Jerry Jones 16th and the Washington duo of Ron Rivera and Martin Mayhew at No. 22. The Giants GM Joe Schoen is too new to be ranked.
Rosenthal said:
Like Bill Belichick, Roseman badly needed a rebound after a string of mostly shaky drafts -- and the Eagles GM got it with DeVonta Smith, Landon Dickerson and Milton Williams. The Jalen Hurts pick also looks pretty good now; Philadelphia got league-average starting-quarterback play from a second-rounder on a rookie contract. There have been some massive ups and downs in Roseman's reign, but he's settling in here just above average, like the Eagles' nine-win seasons in three of the last four years.
The are plenty of ties to the Eagles on the list, with Bills GM Grandon Beane/Sean McDermott ranked number one. McDermott was the Eagles former defensive coordinator under Andy Reid.
Also on the list is Tampa Bay's Jason Licht was the Eagles Vice president of player personnel, who was ranked No. 5. The Chiefs duo of Andy Reid and Brett Veach, who was a scout with the Eagles, cmae in at No. 6. Cleveland's Andrew Berry was the Vice president of football operations in 2019, came in at No. 18. Jets GM Joe Douglas was the Eagles Vice president of player personnel for four seasons, was No. 21 on the list.
This is a big draft for Roseman, with five of the top 101 picks, and 13 picks in the first three rounds of the next three drafts, he has a chance to put himself higher on this list.
