Flyers Sign Leo Carlsson to Offer Sheet

On the first day of free agency, Philadelphia Flyers GM Daniel Briere hinted that the team had to avoid the disappointment of not having a flashy move in the offseason.

Then Friday came and the Flyers made their move.

The Flyers have signed center Leo Carlsson to a five-year offer sheet with an $18 million AAV. As a restricted free agent, the Anaheim Ducks have one week to match.

Carlsson, 21, just completed his third season in the NHL. He scored 29 goals and 67 points in 70 games with Anaheim last season. He had four goals and 11 points in 12 games in the playoffs.

In 201 career games, Carlsson has 61 goals and 141 points.

Anaheim has the cap space to match and has said all along they would match any offer sheet, but Briere is taking his shot on a cornerstone center.

Now comes the wait for Anaheim to match and the clock is now ticking.
