Flyers Sign Trevor Zegras to 4-Year Contract

One of the signature moves of the offseason for the Philadelphia Flyers a year ago was acquiring forward Trevor Zegras from the Anaheim Ducks. The trade provided a necessary change of scenery and new opportunity for Zegras, who ran with it.

Zegras, who turned 25 in March, set a career high with 26 goals and 67 points in 81 games. Delivering these numbers in a contract year set the stage for the RFA to get a nice payday when the time came.

That time has arrived, as the Flyers announced a four-year deal for Zegras with a $9.125 million AAV, avoiding arbitration. Zegras' hearing was scheduled for next Wednesday.

Zegras was drafted ninth overall by the Ducks in 2019. Upon arriving to the NHL in the 2020-21 season, Zegras made an immediate impact. He had three goals and 13 points in 24 games as a 19-year-old. In his first full season in 2021-22, Zegras scored 23 goals and had 61 points. He matched the 23 goals and reached 65 points in the 2022-23 season.

But Zegras’ last two seasons in Anaheim were tumultuous. A shift from center to wing and a decline in productivity – Zegras had just 18 goals and 47 points in 88 games over the two seasons – led to regular circulation in trade rumors.

Zegras was acquired by the Flyers for forward Ryan Poehling, a 2025 second-round pick, and a 2026 fourth-round pick.
