Philadelphia Phillies Continue Grapefruit League With Aaron Nola Making Spring Debut
As the Philadelphia Phillies continue Grapefruit League play, they will turn to Aaron Nola for the first time this spring on the mound. Nola will make his first appearance on the mound since his NLDS loss to the Mets, where he allowed four runs in five innings.
Nola, 31, went 14-8 with a 3.57 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, and 197 strikeouts in 199.1 innings in 2024 and enters the second year of a seven-year, $172 million deal signed before last season.
As for today's lineup, the team will continue to look at Millville High School alum Buddy Kennedy, who is a candidate for the Opening Day roster spot, will hit sixth and play left field. Utility man Edmundo Sosa will play center field today and hits third.
Both players are looking to out outfield play to their resume to help the 2025 team. Both players can play the infield and offer the lineup right-handed bats in a very left-handed lineup.
Another name to keep an eye on today is shortstop Aidan Miller, who is the organization's top prospect. he will continue to get looks in the big league camp as the spring continues. IN four spring games so far, Miller has yet to record a hit in nine plat appearances.
The rest of the lineup features a couple of other players fighting for a roster spot: Kody Clemens, Cal Stevenson, and catcher Garrett Stubbs, all have been with the major league club the past few seasons in some capacity.
