Philadelphia Phillies Trade Talks Heat Up: Alec Bohm For Top Pitcher?
As the Philadelphia Phillies brass gets ready for the MLB winter meetings, one name that has been buzzing in trade talks is Alec Bohm.
The Phillies third baseman is one name that has been connected to teams, including the Seattle Mariners, who are in the market for a new player at the hot corner.
According to Mariners beat writer Adam Jude of the Seattle Times, the Phillies have called and offered Bohm, asking for one of the Mariners' front-line pitchers, Logan Gilbert or George Kirby.
In initial trade talks between the two clubs, the Phillies asked for one of the Mariners’ top pitchers — Logan Gilbert or George Kirby — in exchange for Bohm, a source with knowledge of the discussions said.
Bohm was one of the Phillies' most consistent hitters, but stumbled down the stretch, finishing the season at .280 with 15 homers, 44 doubles, 97 RBI, and a .779 OPS.
As for Gilbert, he was one of the league's top pitchers tossing a MLB high 208.2 innings, racking up 220 strikeouts, and posting a 3.23 ERA. Kirby is another quality pitcher, going 14-11 with a 3.53 ERA and 179 strikeouts in 191 innings.
It's not the first time that Bohm's name has been mentioned in trade talks for a pitcher, last week USA Today MLB writer Bob Nightengale wrote that the team offered Bohm in a trade for White Sox pitcher Garrett Crochet.
